WHAT WE CAN LEARN FROM ETHIOPIA- CHAIRPERSON OF NCCE SPEAKS

In a very intriguing conversation with Daakye Kanea Leadership Podcast, Madam Josephine Nkrumah , the Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) disclosed Ethiopia as her favorite African country aside from her birth country, Ghana.

According to her, Ethiopians have a strong sense of patriotism, the kind that she wishes Ghanaian citizens would imitate.

Ethiopians she explained, have a strong communal approach to nation-building. They are each other’s keeper, ensuring that every citizen is diligently playing his role in nation-building.

She added that “The pride of being ‘ETHIOPIAN’ that the citizen’s exhibit is another admirable fact”.

Ethiopians, she describes show great pride in embracing their culture which reflects in the way they talk, dress, and even eat. This, she finds so patriotic and beneficial if imbibed in Ghanaians.

                                     A MESSAGE TO MY YOUNGER SELF

Madam Josephine Nkrumah made the following wishes that could be done for her younger self.

  1. Be intentional about your aspirations; Scribble your vision and goals. It will help you in identifying which opportunities to pounce on.
  2. Read a lot of inspirational pieces.

In addition to these, she advised young aspiring leaders to;

  • Believe in themselves
  • Read widely and not underestimate the phrase that “knowledge is power”
  • Be in a hurry to serve, because it is in serving that you lead.
